Is £5k a reasonable quote to have a 3bed house fully rewired?

We're in the south east - and the quote includes running the wires into the loft for a forthcoming conversion. Any advice welcome. Thank you

We are currently having our house rewired (incl down lighters in most rooms, new fuse board, new sockets and switches etc). its a 4 bed house we were quoted from £4300 to £4700, not incl making good the chases. Very messy noisy work - good luck!

Last year we paid £1,200 in the SE for 2 up 2 down Victorian semi inc new sockets, lightfittings, fuse board etc
However we may have got a deal as we were renovating as LL and paid cash.

Plasterer was £300 on top of that.

We are in SW/Wales and paid £6k - that was for a 7 bedroom farmhouse and included armoured cable throughout due to fucking rodent damage to the old wiring.

That seems lot to me I think more 3-3.5k would be more reasonable considering it would only cost about £500-£600 for materials and about four days to complete.

We paid about £5000ish for a 4 bed 1930s house in southwest including all the chasing and making good. It took about 3 weeks and used a lot more cable than expected.

We've been quoted £6.5k for a small 4 bed house. I think it is expensive but we are in Surrey and I feel that we have to pay through the nose for any work that we need to get done. Thie quite doesn't include patching up the wire chases.

My husband is an electrician. The other thing that you have to think about when comparing quotes is how in depth the rewire actually is. You could think you're making a comparison but a house that is having a very basic rewire will obviously be much cheaper than one where the customer wants lots of sockets in a room, top quality switches and sockets or even chrome. TV points, data cabling, these things all make a difference. There's also a big difference if you just one want one white plastic pendant in your rooms as opposed to down lights etc. We live in an area where most houses have thick stone walls, takes much longer to do the job. Another major factor is that it is much easier and quicker to rewire an empty house. My husband sometimes has to spend a lot of time moving furniture and it's amazing the number of clients who don't even make an attempt to put their things away or prepare their house slightly. I'm sure there are points that I've missed but there are factors which can make a big difference on price.
