If you were buying a new small dining table would you get round or square?

I have posted before with table issues. It will go against a wall, where the space is 100cms. Would a 100cm diameter round table look OK and save space? WWYD? It is for an open plan living/ kitchen/ dining room, which currently has no table at all.

Don't forget to consider the space the chairs will take up.

Oh, probably square.

Extendable square would be an option. Square ones seem flimsy, and too small, or the one in John Lewis does. A slightly bigger (90-100cms) would be OK if I could find one. John Lewis House does a nice round one, but the rectangular one is too big (120cms I think).
Are there any stylish alternatives? Debenhams has some but no sale at the moment!

If its going against a wall I wouldn't go for round. Also think about feet, it's much more practical to have a central foot but it need to be of a good enough quality to no be wobbly.

round. looks better and you can squeeze an extra chair in. A small square table looks mean.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will go for the round John Lewis round one, just because I like it! The chairs slot in nicely when not in use.

You could get a rectangle drop leaf table with chairs that store in the side then it's really out the way when not in use

Square makes bettre use of limited space and will "fit" to the wall. I think round tables usually feel too small and crowded.
