Ok. Have finally decided to paint the units in our1980's kitchen off white (wimbourne white or similar).

I have finally decided to paint the main wall either Light Blue or Blue Gray.

The wall is south facing and directly opposite a large window.

Which to go for? Need to buy tomorrow.

Thanks. (Will wait until tomorrow to ask you all about kitchen cabinet knobs and how to choose between a door handle or knobs on internal doors...)

Not an expert but do have Light Blue in kitchen. It's nice, I like it, but it looks like sludgy light greeny grey to me like 90% of all F&B colours

I have light blue in our lounge. It's a lovely mellow colour. I don't know anything about blue gray, but it sounds nice.

Thanks. Will see if anyone has a view on Blue Gray (especially if they know both colours). I have put Light Blue in north facing downstairs loo and it is very sludgy as SwedishEdith says. I know it will look different in sunlight but just can't decide...

Bumping in the hopes someone who has used both has any views?

Just one word of warning - I painted our solid oak kitchen units in F&B French Gray, and I wouldn't use F&B paint again - its not particularly hard wearing. There have been quite a few threads on here about it, I think if you have them professionally done and then sealed somehow that might make a difference, but I think the general consensus is that because F&B changed the formation of the paint (its no longer oil based) its made it less durable. I think Little Greene paint comes out better.

Thanks Mandy. Yes, I read that too. Interestingly I was in a shop yesterday that stocks all the high end paints and they said that used to be the case but F&B appear to be better now in their experience. They used to recommend F&B, then changed to Little Greene and now think F&B is good again, apparently. As you say, they work with professional kitchen painters (and not the Dulux painter I am using!).

That's one of the reasons I thought I would paint the wall instead. It is at the far end of the kitchen and won't need a special paint (I.e. won't get splashed by grease, etc.).

Shame about your units :(
