Thermoplastic tiles and asbestos - please help as I am now panicking

Following on my previous thread regarding burst pipe, now we are in the process of drying the walls and floors. This morning someone came in to pull the carpet up so the floor underneath can dry quicker. However, he said the floor is made from thermoplastic tiles and there is a chance of containing asbestos. He said not to worry as it s not dangerous when it is not disturbed. But then he removed the carpet grippers which of course damaged the tiles! I then asked for the carpet to put back down so not to expose to any asbestos fibres. I am now so scared that my house is not a safe place to live in. Meanwhile the insurers is sending someone round to check. My house is built in the 1950s. Please help!

Spray it damp and cover it over with plastic sheeting if you are worried until the insurance assessor comes round.

Asbestos containing materials release fibres into the air and inhaling these fibres is what caused health problems.
Damping it down stops further fibres being released around areas of damage and the plasic will contain it. If you have to then remove in the future I'd pop a half mask, like builders wear, on to stop yourself breathing any potential fibres in.

Thanks for replying. I have just read my house survey report and it says that the floor is made of solid concrete. Is that the same as thermoplastic tiles?
