Any decorators in the house? 1700 grade lining paper- is it genius or PITA?

Just in B&Q and noticed that along with the regular 800 and 1000 grade lining paper, there is a smooth range made by Anaglypta (but just like regular lining paper, not the textured stuff) with grades ar 1200, 1400 and eveb 1700.

It is much thicker and says good for rough walls. I need to paper some walls that are bit worse for wear before I paint them (but can't afford any more hack-off and replastering). Obviously I'll sand and fill as much as poss, but has anyone used this? Is it a god send or very tricky to work with? It's standard paste-the-paper type stuff.

I have just had this put up - it has covered a multitude of sins frankly! You need to give the paste longer to soak in to it than with normal paper.

Yup, I used 1400 grade lining paper for a room which was being painted after and I'd done my own, frankly amateurish, plaster repairs in it.

Looks good :)

Good tip about letting the paste soak for longer. Was it harder to put up? eg tricker to stick at any rough edges close to skirtings? Sounds like the 1400 is a good middle ground - the 1700 was very stiff. would probably hold the house up
