Does anyone prefer shower curtains to screens?

We are putting in a new bathroom and are planning to get a shower curtain rather than screen. Cue shock from the bathroom fitter who apparently can't remember the last time he worked on a bathroom without a screen! I just really don't like the idea of a screen as unless it's buffed and polished it just looks streaky and limescaly. Has anyone else actually chosen a curtain as well recently? And also does anyone know where you can get a curved shower curtain rail? Our bath won't sit between two walls but ends in the middle of the room.

OK, I have watched the infomercial but still don't really understand how this magic shower curtain works. How does the top rail stay up? And how is the curtain long enough to form a seal with the bath, when the unit sits on the wall just above the bath?

It has a gas strut thingy to hold the top rail in place so you start opening it and then let go and it raises itself. The curtain hangs just within the bath, you wouldn't think it would work but it does I guess the concertina curtain helps to direct the water. Mine has only leaked once when DS pulled it out of bath whilst I was in the shower.

You lift up the silver bit to form a 90degree angle - in essence giving you the horizontal curtain pole. It is on a gas strut so easy to do. You just unclip the curtain and pull it out. It sits just inside the top of the bath and all the water runs into the bath. It feels like it shouldn't work (IKWYM about the fact it sits on top of the bath but seriously the curtain once pulled out skims the top and the water stays in.)

We have a small bathroom and are just about to refit. We're getting a small screen (about 10cm from wall) to catch worst drips (i once came across this in a hotel and have had dreams about it since Sad) then having a curtain. We wouldn't be able to get round a big screen to bathe small children or clean the taps/back wall and those fold up 4 part screens can't really cope with daily use/will get on my nerves.

I don't get chased by the curtain, I have a fairly heavy plastic one, which I try to leave unfolded to dry and if it starts looking manky, put in the machine at 40c with a couple of towels.

Curtain every time

Just chuck it in washing machine.

Drove myself bonkers trying to keep a screen looking ok in a hard water area. Plus it's just not as cosy when you have a bath.

Psycho shower scene

Give me a screen every time

Curtain for me. I tend to buy cheap white ones, and replace when they discolour (about once a year).

Lately, though, I've been looking for something a bit more interesting, and probably more expensive (about the £20-30 mark?). Has anyone got any tips? My bathroom is greigy, with burnt orange towels. Something retro, maybe?

we recently had our bathroom re done. Dp wanted a screen which I reluctantly agreed to (hes let me have a free hand with nearly all the other refurbishing!).
I have always had curtains. Anyway after a few weeks of having to continually mop up the floor cos the screen doesnt stop the water from escaping at the far end, I said cant we get a curtain. We did and its so much better. But we had to leave the screen up cos its cemented to the tiles! So we have both, which does look a bit daft! We got our curtain in wilkos, or try argos

I have a mini screen plus a curtain. This works really well in our small bathroom. The mini screen is easy to keep clean as it's fixed in place and it stops any water creeping round the curtain. It also helps support the shower rail. I launder the curtain with the towels, and replace it if it gets mouldy. For me it's the perfect combination of water-proofing and cheap laziness. Smile
