Rewiring: q re furniture

we share the unfortunate position of people on other posts who have to have rewiring done after moving in. Moved in last week, rewiring begins 11 Feb. They want all furniture downstairs for first 4 days, then all furniture upstairs for last 3 days. The firm doing it come v highly recommended and are coming for a walk thru next week, have said they'll see if there are any bits of furniture they can work around. Most stuff is in boxes and can be moved into our cellar, but I'm worried about how we move beds and sofas if they have to move? Is it ok to ask the firm to quote to do this (big building firm?). We have some v heavy furniture and no cash for storage...thanks. Fortunately we can move out ourselves while work is done.

My local "man with van" will move heavy furniture for this sort of thing.

I put all the movable small stuff in those plastic crates with lids, then it can go in the garage or carport and stay clean and dry.

Electricians don't like moving stuff and you will pay through the snout.

Think we are going to have to man up and move the stuff ourselves...or find man with a van - but I'll wait and see about the floorboard direction, hadn't thought about that! - thanks for the tips.

Have you got a garden. Could you put some of it in the garden under one of those tent things like this? Do you know anyone you could borrow one from?
