Width measurement on ready made curtains?

If it says the width is 162cm is that the flat measurement for EACH curtain, or the flat measure for the pair? I'm assuming it doesn't mean the gathered width as that is adjustable on the pencil pleats?

I'm trying to work out if the ones in Laura Ashley sale are worth buying rather than making and I can't find out the info on their website.

Window is 173cm wide so add a bit to allow for pull back gives a total width of about 2m10cm. So does that mean the set that says 223cm wide should be OK, or once gathered will not be enough?

It's the measurement for each curtain.

I usually allow 1.5 - 2x the width for curtains (depending on the curtain top - 1.5 for eyelet and 2 for pencil pleat) so sounds like they might be ok

Thank you - it would be £120 to buy fabric alone at sale price (and then add lining, tape, time etc) and ready made set are £157 so it looks like that's one pair I don't have to make! Smile

I spent a day this week shortening a pair of curtains for patio doors, which tuned to a nightmare job of hellish proportions...never want to do anything curtain-like for a long time! If you can buy them ready made, go for it!
