We (finally) moved into our renovated house last weekend. Have got all our stuff out of storage and spent a couple of hours this weekend emptying the static caravan of stuff.
For one reason or another (long, boring to do with sensitive skin, mould in the static, severe dust allergies, the generally ickiness feeling now associated with anything that has been in the static) we have agreed that we pretty much want to wash everything. Bedlinen, clothing, everything. Yes, probably not totally necessary in reality but for mental a nd dermatological pleasantness/health not a totally mad idea.
I was feeling quite pleased...knew the drill ...hanging up washing in a closed room with window shut and extractor on. Slight problem...either said rooms too small, extractor not yet working or door not hung..
No matter...hung some in the futility...dried OK....then 3rd morning after moving in leak from the en-suite sink hot water pipe....quite probably the entire contents (plus more?) of our 300 litre megaflo water tank...into the walls, ceiling and sitting on the floor of my lovely new kitchen.
Surprisingly enough, after immediate damage limitation done...the thought of adding a coupole of (understatement emotion) loads of washing to dry to the need for the walls and ceiling to dry....I decided to go over to the dark side....
One tumble drier now purchased and as of yesterday been sitting in the futility room. (It will eventually go out to the garage). Bought a condensing one. As I empty the tank after each load I am very glad we did it. A couple of pints at least each load. Both my washing and house will now hopefully dry better. And the huge puddles of condensation on the bay windows each morning? Still there a bit (unsurprisingly with a mahoosive flood 4 days ago) but a lot better than it has been for a while.
It sunk in Piglet. Thank you
