Ikea Liatorp dining table. Does anyone have one?

I've been considering and have already posted a thread about the Bjursta table from Ikea. I've also noticed the liatorp and quite like the look of it, so was wondering how this might fare.

The table will be our only dining table and will live in the kitchen diner. It will be used for painting, gluing etc as well as homework and for dining, so if you have this table, how have you found it?

Is it easy to clean? I think I'd like to avoid using a tablecloth if possible.

Many thanks in advance.

I thought about buying one of these as they were in offer last month. Decided against it after seeing how chipped and battered the one in the showroom was, especially in the middle where the edges had been chipped where the extension leaf sits. I had a play with it and it was difficult to extend which is probably why it damaged there but I figured if a showroom table could get so battered then what hope did a household table have that was being used on a daily basis and subjected to children regularly.

I like ikea, but from my inspections in the showroom, the liatorp range isn't very sturdy - a shame because I like the look of them but agree with SoozleQ on this

Ok. Brilliant. Thanks for letting me know. I can cross that off the list. A shame as I like the idea of a pedestal leg one.

Hi, I've got this table. It is absolutely fine after 4 years use. We use one of those padded protectors and an oilcloth table cloth with it.
It seats 6 adults easily when extended. Prob more children.

I wouldn't be put off by other comments.

It's very sturdy when round. Bit wobbly at ends when extended but when I say wobbly I mean it wasn't great for carving a v big turkey on right at the end.

Re- reading your post op. I wouldn't use it for kids without a cloth. Pens would stain it I think.

Thanks Gingerbread :)

It's good to know you've had it for so long and that it's worked for you. I think I'll have to make a trip to ikea and see what it's like as I've only seen it online.

I'd never considered a table cloth. i think It's a shame to cover a table. (I think that's a hangup from mu child hood when my parents had a pvc cover that was cleaned really well but always felt sticky . I suppose we could use it without and if it gets knackered looking, cover it then.

Thanks for replying. I'll definitely check it out in person.

:)
