Neptune or Kit Stone Kitchen?

middleagedspread · 03/12/2012 11:39

I'm researching new kitchens. In my fantasy world I would have a Plain English but the reality is probably more of these types.
I think they're owned by the same people?
I saw a Neptune one in a local show room & it was gorgeous.
Does anyone have an first hand experience?
Thanks

I am having a dreadful experience with Neptune Furniture. Has anyone else had an issue and can offer advice?

whisbean · 26/05/2016 15:37

I would not use Neptune. Have/am having a dreadful experience with them and could send pictures of the faulty goods if you wish.

We decided to upgrade our kitchen and add a larder/fridge unit by Neptune using a company called Bridgewater based in Newcastle. It is an extremely expensive piece of furniture and looks beautiful but unfortunately it has been the biggest regret. Firstly to install it the joiners have to shave pieces off it to make sure it fits properly. This would be fine if you are then left with a finished product which should be the case when paying the extra £460 for installation. But no, if you want your unit to look perfect you then have to pay an extra £160 for it to have a flash paint job to cover the areas which have been shaved and sanded down. I find this incredible and we have now had an unfinished larder in our kitchen for several weeks as they cannot fit us in during the busiest time of the year. We have paid over £5000 for one unit but don't feel our complaints have been taken seriously because we did not opt for the full kitchen. Thank goodness we didn't. The unit itself though it looks great seems to be made of the softest material and chips so easily. Though I love the look of Neptune I simply could not recommend it and will never visit them again. Tread carefully and make sure you know all of the hidden installation and repainting costs before proceeding. And also if buying through and independent supplier then ensure they can deliver.

I have first hand experience of the major disappointment of sinking years of savings into your dream kitchen. DO NOT BUY FROM TIPPERS IN LICHFIELD!!! I CAN COPY YOU EMAILS FROM THE MANAGER TIM BATCHELOR - ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! TIPPERS HAVE SEALED A TUMBLE DRYER UNDER A GAS BOILER AT MY HOME MAKING IT A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE AND MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE TUMBLE DRYER!!! IS SPENT AROUND £35,000 ON A NEPTUNE KITHCEN AND TIM BATCHELOR AT TIPPERS REFUSES TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE!! THEY HAVE SAID THEY WILL SEND THE FITTER TO OPEN THE CUPBOARD AFTER 2 WEEKS OF NOT HAVING A TUMBLE DRYER!!!!! AND SPENDING THIS MUCH MONEY!!! AND THEN - GET THIS IMPORTANT PART THEY REFUSE TO COME BACK AND REFIT THE CUPBOARD!!!!!!!! THEREFORE LEAVING MY KITCHEN IN PIECES A FEW WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!!! MESSAGE ME FOR COPIES OF THE ACUTAL EMAILS FROM THE MANAGER TO SEE FIRST HAND THE DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! AVOID!! AVOID!!! SEE MY OTHER POSTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if you made your point there Sharon, assume you aren't happy?

@roxycee - Hello, hope you don't mind me replying to an old comment of yours, but I was wondering what little things were not included in the DeVol quote? About to get them to quote, so would be useful to know what to look out for! Thanks!

roxycee · 21/11/2017 05:57

Hello, it was things like appliances that were not supplied would not be fitted/installed. No plumbing or electrical work would be carried out. Cutlery trays and plate dividers. Once pointed out to me and comparing to others they looked cheaper initially but then cam out higher once adding these back ok. Things may have changed now but that was the case a few years ago. I would really consider willow tree in your thoughts! Good luck :)

We fell in love with a kitchen in our local Neptune showroom. We couldn't afford it in the end sadly. One thing to be aware of however are the 'odd' unit sizes Neptune have.

A local kitchen supplier by us (surrey) resells Neptune but also makes matching units to help overcome the sizing issue.

To my mind, if you're going to pay the money that Neptune demands, you should make sure there is no compromise on the design to work around the units on offer. If you end up going down the bespoke/neptune route, there are probably cheaper equivalent alternatives.

We went with Pineland in the end to achieve a very similar look but actually on our budget.

We also loved the look of marble but were worried about the maintenance so ended up going for "san vincent" quartz. It's only been in a couple of weeks, but so far so good!

ElleMcElle · 21/11/2017 09:15

@roxycee - Thanks so much for getting back to me. We're having the kitchen fitted by our builder, who is arranging all trades - so hopefully most of those things won't be an issue (although we would expect to pay less, as not paying for fitting). Willow Tree look good, but not sure if / when I could get down there.

@parkview094 - How funny, I was looking at exactly the same quartz! Do you mind me asking where you bought yours in the end? Is there a significant price difference between suppliers, or basically the same everywhere?

parkview094 · 21/11/2017 09:30

Here's a photo of the Quartz installed: flic.kr/p/2175VgC
We got ours from Y&S Marble in West Drayton. We found them to be around 20% cheaper than most of the other quotes and I would have no hesitation in recommending them

ElleMcElle · 21/11/2017 20:40

@parkview094 - Love it! Just tried to google the supplier and can't find Y&S - was it "Yes Marble"?

parkview094 · 22/11/2017 08:37

These were the folk we used: www.yandsmarble.co.uk/

ElleMcElle · 22/11/2017 18:46

@parkview094 - Aha! Thank you!
