Worcester boiler - wireless thermostat help!

Does anyone have a wireless thermostat for their boiler, we have one, the battery has gone and - I know this sounds ridiculous! but I can't for the life of me figure out how to undo it and put a new battery in!!

When I unscrew the screw at the bottom, it's just the attachment to the wall, rather than undoing the unit, and I can't figure out how the bloody thing comes apart

Anyone? :) xx

Has it got a model no. on it?

Ok if it's square with a dial and set button in the middle. It's little screw undone, swing it out at the bottom and lift it upwards to take off the wall, then two tabs which you squeeze and slide down to remove the battery drawer. Have you got a recover panel on the front off the boiler or a receiver unit fitted next to the boiler?

Saltycopporn · 27/11/2012 13:09

Recover should read receiver

It's square with a screen on the front and up/down temp buttons, no dial - will try what you suggest Saltycopporn, I was thinking the top would flip up rather than slide, maybe that's where I'm going wrong!!

Can't remember off the top of my head the model no - will have a look later

Thanks, sorry for being daft, seems such a stupid thing but I was fiddling with it for ages

It's likely to be a Drayton rf1 by your description. This unit has two battery drawers. The advice stands to remove the unit. A small electrical screwdriver of knife can lever the battery drawers out.

If it is a Drayton then the receiver unit may have lost its signal and as a result the digistat won't be able to talk to the boiler. This is common after batteries wear out.

To reprogram, before replacing the batteries stand within a meter of the receiver unit (near the boiler) the reciever will have buttons numbered 1 and 2. Press 1 and while holding in press and hold 2. The units red light will flash and then go out. Then push the left drawer home followed by the right drawer (as you look at the plus and minus buttons) the reciever unit will then re-establish the signal.

If its another model then let me know

sounds like our one.
battery compartments sort of just push in - press fit compartments. nothing to undo, you just have to kind of jiggle the bottom bit about, and eventually two separate bits will come out, each taking 2 batteries. press it a bit and hopefully they'll pop out.
