Is there such a thing as posh Lino?

We are gutting and refitting the tiny bathroom in our new house. The floor area is only 1.7x1.15m. As we have young DC, we really want something warm, comfortable, non slip and cheapish. Was thinking Lino but after popping into a local flooring shop and looking at a few ranges today, I am feeling distinctly uninspired. Is there such a thing as posh Lino? What else might work for us? tIA.

I think that's called karndean!

Altro both looks good and is anti-slip. I think Perstorp Ferguson do a good vinyl too.

MrsGeologist · 24/11/2012 20:04

I thought karndean too. Don't actually have any though.

Marmoleum

herhonesty · 25/11/2012 11:49

no. no such thing.

Runningblue · 25/11/2012 11:50

Yes absolutely, we've used very snazzy vinyl flooring in our bathrooms which draws loads of compliments and has encouraged a few friends to 'do' vinyl, rather than laminate.

We've also used karndean flooring through our hallway right through the kitchen and into the utility room, looks great, just same as wood, and easy to care for.

Vinyl is not the same as genuine linoleum flooring.

bonzo77 · 25/11/2012 12:00

Rubber flooring. Like they have in airports. Google kimpton flooring and look at their rubber flooring. I've got the bright green in our tiny ensuite.

Runningblue · 25/11/2012 12:01

Are you getting hung up on terminology selks?

Pannacotta · 25/11/2012 12:06

Marmoleum as Selks says.
Proper lino made from natural materials and perfect for bathrooms.
I say it so many times on here I probably sound like a scratched record!

John Lewis sells it and will fit too, as will local independents.

Runningblue · 25/11/2012 12:16

Oh well, I am clearly a cheapskate then Hmm - not that the vinyl we have looks cheap, or indeed was cheap.

It sounds like you have some viable options there op.

Selks · 25/11/2012 12:26

Nope Runningblue. What Pannacotta said.

MrsBucketxx · 25/11/2012 12:29

we have a lino type in our kitchen and bathrooms and we get lots of compliments on it on how nice our wood floor is. you need to have a good look around its moved on alot.

Amtico - ver posh and ver expensive

Pannacotta · 25/11/2012 12:36

Actually Marmoleum is less pricey than Amtico and maybe even Karndean, which is a bit odd, but there we are.
Much loved by the NHS as apparently it has anti bacterial properties (not sure how).
And no I dont work for them!

MrsBucketxx · 25/11/2012 12:37

amtico it was i have.

weakestlink · 25/11/2012 12:42

Amtico or (less posh) Karndean.

Selks · 25/11/2012 13:53

I love my marmoleum, has been down seven years, is warm and comfy and looks as good as new.
