The shower in our en-suite is broken and leaks hot water constantly :(
Imagine the worst DIYers and then go one step up, that is us :)
DP has had a go at fixing it. It is not fixed.
So,
a) Who should we call in to replace the shower? Plumber or electrician? Handyman?
b) Should we go straight to replacing the whole bathroom (which is 80's grey and looking rough with some mould)? How much do average small en-suite bathrooms cost?
TIA

bathroom suite about £350

tiling how long is a peice of string?, fit prices vary wildly but a small ensuite I would imagine to be 2-3k including tiles & suite

Thank you for that sausagesandwich the whole room is tiled so that could be the expensive bit!
Now I just need to persuade DH Grin
And decide on a good company to do it... Any ideas welcome!
B&Q or word of mouth recommendation or...

personally I would only use a company that had personal recommendations, or a large company that has industry accreditations

guild of master craftsmen
ISO
Trustmark
Fira Gold

etc

If you go with a large company, research their recommendation rates -is that info independant (Mori poll etc)
B&Q, Homebase & Wickes all do their own installs, the bathstore will put you in touch with an installer but won't guarantee their work
again whichever company you go with you need to make sure the guarantee is with the company rather than the individual installer

it's not worth going with the cheapest, especially for a bathroom as it is going to be in place for a long time, plus if anything goes wrong with plumbing etc it can get expensive!
if you are going with an independant ask to see examples of their work & speak to their previous customers -you need to go with the people you are going to be happiest having a working relationship with, and the ones you are confident will do a good job
