Engineered Wood Floor - Bevelled edges or not?

Refurbishing our Edwardian family home. We are modernising - trying to get a cleaner, brighter look but without going too stark, sterile and minimal.

So please advise if you can; which looks best when laid on a large expanse of open floor? I have conflicting opinions from an architect and a designer.

thank you!

I have boards with straight rather than bevelled edges and they look fab. Can't you go to a florring shop and get them to lay some out on the floor.

Non-bevelled.

We have bevelled edges because the flooring we wanted for our kitchen didn't have non-bevelled. We would have preferred non-bevelled as less food and dust would get trapped down it.

Not laid yet, but we've gone for bevelled as I think they look more solid like proper floorboards. Striaght edges too smooth and perfect for me.

Thanks all. Looks like the choice is between 'authentic' and 'sleek'. Mmmmmm. Will try your tip Goosey Loosey.

If not try Google images to see if you can get a feel for the difference in look.
