Underfloor heating

I've just found a switch for the underfloor heating in the kitchen of the house that we rent. We've never had it before so I'm a bit clueless as to how to use it. Do I set it to come on and off like the heating or should it be on all day as I guess the most energy is used to heat the floor up in the first instance? It seemed to take several hours to heat up after I first switched it on.

In the same kitchen (long and thin) there are also two other radiators - is it more economical to use these with the central heating or the underfloor heating?

Thank you for your help.

Don't leave it on all day or you will end up paying an absolute fortune. Have it on a timer. If you have underfloor heating, you shouldn't need to use the radiators. However, underfloor heating is more expensive than central heating. I love our underfloor heating - our kitchen is the only room that stays warm throughout the winter.
