When you calculate the value of your contents for insurance do you include the kitchen?

The cabinets and workrooms I mean, obviously you include the contents of the cupboards. I'm really struggling to work out how much I should insure our contents for

Yes, include everything, even down to wallpaper, carpets etc. Kitchen cabinets / appliances etc would cost a lot to replace so you do need to make sure they're covered.

no not on contents they are fixtures and fittings - you wouldn't take it with you if you moved

it will be covered on buildings insurance

No, things like the kitchen, fitted wardrobes, doors, skirtings, architraves etc would all be included in the buildings costing.

Anything you can physically pick up and move would be contents.

The kitchen cabinets are covered under the buildings insurance.

Thank you. So what about carpets. I gues we could take them
With us if we moved although of course we wouldn't. Do I include them?

Contents are items that if you picked up your house and turned it upside down, would fall out.
So not fixed kitchen units or carpets but yes to dressers or rugs.

As described to me by a loss adjuster after a catastrophic flood at my parents house.
