Moving to Chiswick

We're currently looking at moving to Chiswick but don't know the area very well. Wondered if people could give me some advice on the roads around central chiswick - specifically burlington gardens, heathfield gardens, wavendon avenue, sutton lane north. Are these nice roads or too blighted by A4 and aircraft noise? We had been looking at Bedford Park but it's a little pricey and would rather be closer to the high road than the south side of the A4.

A little pricey for Bedfird Park is the understatement of the year! All the roads you mention have large houses, but will get traffic noise. A friend lives on Sutton Lane North - check you have parking outside the house, but actually once you are inside you can't hear the road (depending on how close to A4 you are).

North of A4 and definitely north of High Road you don't get so much noise from aeroplanes. Grove Park is aircraft noisier and not near the tube links, but you do get more choice of large houses with bigger gardens.

It sounds like you're looking for 5bed+ size houses. You could also look further along the highroad; Homefield Road, Airedale Avenue. Or further north lovely houses around Emlyn Road, Flanchford Road etc. A bit further from the high road, but larger gardens than central chiswick.

Thanks so much for posting a response. You're spot on, we are indeed looking at 5 bed houses. Moving from Islington to get some more greenery and were tempted by chiswick because of the vibe of the high road and the prospect of having the river nearby. Grove Park will definitely be out for us as we'd prefer to be nearer the tubes. Any idea if the roads affected by traffic noise between the high road and A4 are difficult to sell on afterwards? there seems to be so little property on the market and when something comes up if it's half way decent it goes to sealed bids. All a bit disheartening !

There actually aren't that many large houses. Lots of 3 beds with loft conversions, but the larger houses do tend to be Bedford Park (expensive), Grove park or just a bit further away form the high Road ( there are some in Grange Road, Marlborough Road area so further west up the high road eg this one ... Depends on your budget really.

Therefore the space / price/ noise is always the same trade off so I don't think you'd have any problem selling on. Houses always seem to be in demand at the right price.

this looks immaculate

this one is very central just off the high Road

this is a nice road a bit smaller but lower price too.
