Question re lino and laminate

We have really manky looking tiles in our porch. However, having just 'wainscotted' the walls and putting new skirting down, dp is reluctant to take it up to fit the laminate. I am right in thinking that is what he would have to do, if it's flush to the floor, am i?

Also, lino - does it have to be glued down? Wouldn't want to ruin the tiles underneath as although I consider manky, they aren't that bad and it would be a shame to wreck them.

I'm no expert, but I don't think you have to take up skirting to lift laminate. Though it looks better if you do. Your alternative is to lay it to flush with the skirting and then add some beading.

Lino - you should lay some underlay first (like hardboard) then glue lino on top of that.

Ooh, sounds like a plan! I'll keep watching, just to see what others have to add.

Thank you!

all I know is lino is HORRID for soundproofing but not relevant in your case! I want a house, not a flat anymore Grin.

I think the current thing is to now use clear silicone sealant stuff around the edges of lino/vinyl not glue or tape as the glue/tape can show through .
