Bumpy paint!

I am seeking to make use of the endless wisdom of MNers where DH and I have both failed Grin

Painting a bedroom wall: the previous owners obviously painted it so many times the paint is now thick and cracking and peeling off. It looks awful - hence the reason for painting finally getting round to it after four years living here.

So, wise MNers, is there any way I can get rid of the cracks without having to spend the next month or so laboriously scraping it back to the plaster? Have thought of lining paper but not sure we could make a neat job of that and I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Sanding doesn't seem to work. Anything I could cover it with...?

Thank you in advance!

Woodchip paper? [snort]
Flock paper? [double snort]

[not much help]

to be honest, if the surface is peeling, you will struggle to find a quick fix other than papering. Or getting a professional in to do it. I'm not convinced that, for example, filling it will do the job.

I think PolyFiller do a paint on covers-cracks-and-the-like type of paint.

I used something similar - Polycell sounds familiar. Covered up some horrific marks from wallpaper stripping. Don't know if it would help with your problem though?
