Tiles in downstairs loo - help please

Our downstairs loo will have a quarry tiled floor. It will be a teeny, tiny space. I was going to do something a bit wild (for me - neutral queen) with the miniscule amount of tiles behind the teeny, tiny sink.....really bright glass? All out stupid expensive mosaic? Lime Green?....and then I remembered the floor. Quarry tile floor. Terracottary. Red-Brown. V traditional. Any suggestions as to colours/interesting splashbacks I could do......please...

Can flooring be changed? Save money with lino or plain tiles and splash out on feature tiles? Lime green is my colour of choice at the moment, and love glass tiles!

Cannot afford to change floor tiles and also would rather not have another flooring change IYSWIM added. Loo is being put within the utility room bit - which has original tiles down. Rest of downstairs is going to be smoked oak. So would rather keep the character of the original tiles /avoid expense of re-flooring such a small space.

So trying to think what could still make the loo stylish without changing the floor.

Ah, I get yah...could you mix in some co-ordinating glass tiles with your lime green to tie it all in...a shade of amber perhaps?

Moroccan or Turkish tiles (lots of blues and turquoise and a handpainted type look) would look good with terracotta floor. Will have a quick look to see if I can find an example.

the ones at the top of this page aren't quite what I was thinking of (I was thinking of something brighter) but would look lovely I think

As an alternative, a strip of dark greeny slate could look lovely.

Ohh like those - and the shaped fired earth ones [http://www.firedearth.com/tiles/range/marrakech] In some ways was thinking brighter too - but is a 1930s house so the sage/eau de nil colour in some of these quite apt. AM keeping some original features (doors/spindles/floor) so this may be worth a think.
Maybe I should go wilder with my range splashback and have lime there.....

[http://www.firedearth.com/tiles/range/paris?limit=48&tile_suitability_group=337] or this even.....ohhh...thinking I am in love with tiles.....bugger me expensive - but fortunately a teeny space so who cares....

May not be the ultra modern I was going for but gorgeous - you may have cracked it mini pie....may have to post another thread for the kitchen splashback now....I love MN!

Ooh I do like those shaped ones - I love the Marrakech shape but the Paris ones have that 1930s feel. Either would be fab. I can't really see ultra modern going with quarry tiles so I reckon you either go for something more 'artisanal' to go with the floor or you pretend the floor doesn't exist and have something modern...you could use a rug to cover the floor but it will get filthy if it's a downstairs loo.

And a rug with a DH and 4yoDS? In the loo? shudders .Grin
