its very small. length of a bath. square. currently its fully tiled, in beige, and very boring, and very cold, and very badly done....

its got a p shaped bath which is too big, and it all leaks, and gets too steamy.

so far suggestions are to have a plastic ceiling, a fan, and half tile instead of full.....
im thinking of tiling in white this time so i can ring the changes with paint and towel colours......

also considering vanity units for toilet and sink, so that there is cupboard space.....

is there anything else, any tricks ive missed?

not in london no.....

fitting/tiling/fan/lights etc came in at around £1500

the suite/shower/taps and radiator etc £1395

tiles £ 280
floor £120

plastic ceiling £150.

so does that sound ok?

I'm prob not the best person to ask tbh - only redone one bathroom!

We have a reasonable sized bathroom but because the over bath shower is in the centre of the bath, the wraparound curtain made it look small. We've just put in an www.outasight.co.uk shower screen other MNetters recommended and it's a great. Has visually doubled thesize of the bathroom and is very practical.

Another one here with a ridiculously small bathroom. Sink currently overhangs the bath, which drives me mad!

Someone advised us to buy the biggest possible tiles, as fewer joins make it look bigger. Not sure if that's right though, they're currently festering in the shed until we get some money.

Intrigued by the mirror idea. When you go into our bathroom the loo is directly in front of you, with the sink to the left of that, and the tap end of the bath next to that. Should the mirror go down the right hand wall?

noddy, what do you mean, turn the door?

Speaking of dark colours, we viewed a tiny house, where all the rooms were light and bright, in shades of white, duck egg blue etc. The bathroom was dark brown mosaic tiles, and it was BEAUTIFUL.

Rehang it so that it opens into the hall if there is room rather than into the room itself

CondoleezzaRiceKrispies · 24/08/2012 15:55

Ah, I see. Our landing is 1m square so I'm not sure that would work. Although it would be fun to leave the bathroom vigorously and shove someone down the stairs. Grin

interested in the dark colours idea......how does that work?

noddyholder · 24/08/2012 15:58

I have done it even in small spaces you get used to it very quickly and it transforms a small bathroom because you step into the whole space rather than obscuring half of it with the door.

RagingDull · 24/08/2012 16:04

we rehung the door to open a different way but still opens into the room - the problem for us if we put the door on to open out it would either be straight onto the top of the stairs (too dangerous) or into DDs bedroom door.....

so for us the door will need to stay put i think......plus it opens against a wall so no loss of space...

i dont think its possible to have ours open out rather than in....good idea though if you can do it.

still wondering about these dark colour schemes in a titchy room....

CondoleezzaRiceKrispies · 24/08/2012 16:07

That would mean we could put the sink on the third wall, is that tricky from a plumbing point of view (that wall is an internal stud wall)?

What about a sliding door? Unforgivably naff?

CondoleezzaRiceKrispies · 24/08/2012 16:08

Yes Raging, for us that would mean onto the titchy landing, or into DDs bedroom doorway. Do you live in my house? Grin

i think sliding doors can be space saving but i still think they are naff....we had one downstairs that i couldnt wait to get shut of....

its not an option for our bathroom - no where for it to slide!

Condoleeza
Our sink overhung our loo which annoyed the men but was great the time I was pregnant and had d&v
