I can't coordinate my bedroom. Help!

My bedroom needed decorating. In my head I imagined a romantic Vintagey look with pale cream, shimmery tones and pale pink. However even though I've painted it, it just doesn't look right.
Dh wouldn't let me get new furniture so I have oak wardrobes etc then I've painted the walls natural wicker/ calico( can't remember which) on two walls I added this wall paper. The pattern is in a Matt pale pink color and the background shimmery pearl color. But I don't like it, it doesn't look like a newly decorated room. I'm struggling to find any bedding to add interest. Plain pink or cream just looks boring. Can anyone guide me in the right direction.

I like looking at pictures on Houzz for inspiration, for example this traditional bedroom idea.

Are you able to get a new or second-hand mirror, rug, lampshade or bedside lamps? Those might also help you add some interest as well as bedding.

Thanks for the link. I've had a look and seen lovely rooms. I can't quite put my finger on why it doesn't look right because in theory pink and cream match and oak should also go. I've tried adding a bit of dove grey on the cushions to try and add an accent color but it's not done much either.

Maybe the problem is the size and lack of space. It means we don't have bedside cabinets as there's no room by the side of the bed so I can't add bedside lamps or pretty vases etc and the dressing table is full of perfume and lotions etc so can't add anything to that either. Maybe it needs accessories to add interest which I don't have room for :( I've added some pictures but even they look plain.
I need a nice big bedroom to fit in a chaise and get a nice feature bed

Hmm, it's a look that's easy to get a bit wrong, I think. Beautiful when done right, but cream and pink can end up old ladyish if the tones aren't just right.

I wonder if the cream is the problem? It could easily be too yellow-toned, as could the pink, when you want kind of oyster/blush tones. The wallpaper looks really nice, but the risk is that you end up with a look that is over-girly, when I think this look works best when it is kind of 1930s Paris feel. That means putting some grit in your oyster - plain dark wood floors, or some retro industrial steel or zinc. Have you got a proper iron bedstead? As you can't fit bedside cabinets, why not put in some retro zinc wall lights? Have you looked at the Rockett St George website?

I would take everything out of the room except for the furniture and bedding, then have a really good look at it. It could be that there's too much clutter, or it could be the main base colors you've used.

Once you see it with nothing to distract your eye from the dominant colors, you should have a better idea. Then try adding some bits to see the effect. Can you get rid of everything on the dresser? Change the curtains? Add a completely different color? Purple or lilac could look good, or some zebra print cushions, or voiles on the windows that come down to the floors. If it's a small room, you def only want one or two things to add a contrast. You could maybe change the light bulb or light shade to give a different tone to the room, that can make a huge difference.

A darker accent colour would definitely help - maybe a deep raspberry pink. Repeat it on cushions, pictures, throws, lampshades etc. You could then get away with plain bedding in cream.

Thanks all.

I think I definitely need some really nice curtains and a new light plus the cushions in a dominant color may help. Maybe I've gone too pale and so it's wishy washy.

The furniture really dominates the room which isn't helping. If you picture a 10ft square room. A double bed in the middle of one wall with those hideous over the bed wall units, wardrobes either side and then two small set of drawers running along one of the walls under a window, the door on the opposite wall. Because of the size we were limited on the layout but needed storage.
My sons room is 14 ft long by 8ft wide. Maybe I'm better off giving him our room and we have his.

Could you paint the furniture and similar colour to the walls so it is less dominatant
Just an idea
