Replacing sliding wardrobe doors

I am planning to replace the existing wardrobe doors in my bedroom (because they are broken and horrible!)
I've seen these ones in Ikea which I like.
Now, you're obviously meant to fit these to one of their wardrobe exteriors to give yourself a free standing wardrobe. But does anyone know if they would work just as well being fitted into an existing space. My current wardrobe doors are just fitted into the wall with the recess behind with the clothes rail (if that makes sense).

oooohhh!!! We're just replacing ours too. We had stanley doors before, but we'd dismissed Ikea out of hand thought Ikea sizes were different. So doing too much quite a bit of research Wink
Have you got tracks fitted?

There are tracks fitted but I'd really like to change them too as they are a horrible brass colour.
Ikea are the only ready made ones that will fit the recess I've got. Everything else is too tall and I really don't want to go down the made to measure route as it's too expensive.

Can anyone help?

Hi, I recently did this mistake and would not recommend it at all. Ikea ones are really made for their own wadrobes, if you plan to fix their doors on your old wardrobe, it will work but will never give you good finish.
I bought one pair on the basis of what my carpenter said to me and once he saw those doors he said its cool it can be done in half day..listening this I orderd for my other wardrobe..I was happy as I was saving 300£ for not buying the wardrobe as a whole..but when he started the work it was horrible..he ran away after 1 day of work..i ccalled someone else he was struggling as well to fix them. so all in all..it is not worth this hassle i would be mush happier in spending 300£ more and not listening to that disgusting carpenter :(
