Is this ceramic sink the solution to wooden worktop worries?

Despite not being fastidious housekeepers, we're really keen on getting solid oak countertops in our new kitchen. So, I'm trying to work around the warping problem and wonder whether this sink is the solution. Any thoughts?

The alternative is to put in a regular white sink with a stretch of white Corian running either side to give us a small wet area around our sink where we can be as messy as we want! I think the former will look better though.

On a related note, are ceramic sinks hard to maintain and do you end up with lots of broken glass etc??

Well it's beautiful. But expensive!

My DM has one. You just have to be careful not to drop things when washing up. Otherwise, a weekly soak with a basin full of weak bleach solution keeps it lovely and clean of tea stains.

Go for it. I'm jealous.

I don't think it's that expensive. I'll be bookmarking that for when we do our kitchen, thanks! Grin

Is that expensive? It's much cheaper than the plain stainless steel one Howden's included in our quote.

Thanks for the thumbs up and the advice about cleaning it Flowers.

I have a valleroy & boch by Franke sink which is double and double drainer in white ceramic and it's great. I occasionally fill it with dilute bleach but other than that don't do anything with it, and would recommend it Smile

It will work for what your wanting if your a non messy washer uper.
you will still have the issue of where the wood meets the sink and wont be flush as the sink is likely to have a rounded edge creating a moat.
If you want a 100% worry free (although wood isn't that bad anyhow around a sink) i would create a wet area

MissPollysTrolleyed · 08/08/2012 15:42

The sink looks to have a fairly solid straight line around it but I can see that there's still a chance of a small gap for water to lie. Hmmm, will have a ponder as we are reasonably messy washer uppers and I'd hate to be always worrying about the wood.

Back2Two

sorry it wasn't a potable sink base,
It was just a way to incorporate two tops in a designed way
