I have got a decorator coming in 3 weeks and don't have a clue about type of paint or colours

we are having the whole flat painted. I have a few choices to make and can't decide.

I need a hard wearing paint that can be wiped down. Is dulux endurance my best option?

Should I paint a feature wall in the lounge or just go for one colour everywhere?

What colours shall I choose? It is currently boring cream everywhere. I do prefer neutrals but would prefer some thing a little more interesting than cream.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated

Dulux is good. They have a colour called chalky downs which is lovely with white woodwork. No feature walls! Get a lovely painting or mirror instead

If you've got a decorator coming, s/he'll probably use trade paint. According to a painter and decorator forum I was looking though (I have no life, clearly), dulux trade diamond matt is very good and tough (bette/cheaper than dulux endurance).

beige is a nice colour. If you don't like that, try "milky tea" or "pale barley"

Go to your local dulux trade centre to get samples.

Have a quick think about the orientation of your rooms (north, south etc etc). this brief guide is useful on deciding roughly which colours suit which rooms.

Buy a couple of samples per room and some lining paper to paint the stamples on.

Stick samples up, see what you think!

Samples, samples and more samplesGrin.

I used diamond matt in high use rooms.

The Dulux putty/chalk/beige type colours are nice
