Find me a house...

In a nice part of Tunbridge Wells. Walking distance to some local amenities. No rough or "up and coming" areas. Ideally the south or east side to make the commute to the children's school less ridiculous.

£650k-ish for "done" or under £500k for a "project".

4 bedrooms. Nice safe garden.

Thank you. You are only going to find things I have rejected, so do tell me why I am a fool to have rejected them Grin and how you would give your left arm to live there and how mine is a very naive middle class first world problem etc. I need a kick up the arse.

I'm fed up with looking. Sad

That should be "nice" not "naive" but maybe "naive" works too Grin

What style do you like?

VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:16

Generally not newer than 1920's/30's but I appreciate I am not in a position to be too fussy here.

No soulless estates, please Smile

nice garden

noddyholder · 02/08/2012 18:19

coach house?

GnocchiNineDoors · 02/08/2012 18:23

lovely garden and you could really add your own stamp to it

small garden but AMAZING house

the best of the lot and apparently very good area.

nb I do not know TW.

VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:26

Ooh, I haven't seen the Matfield one before. Mind you, I don't know where Matfield is, that might be why.

As for the others, seen and rejected. Tell me why I should go back to them

Maybe you could tell us what it was in these houses that put you off?

noddyholder · 02/08/2012 18:32

I love the matfield one esp the garden

GnocchiNineDoors · 02/08/2012 18:32

Oh, and when you say 'seen' do you mean online or in the flesh? Never discount a house until you've physically been inside it.

GnocchiNineDoors · 02/08/2012 18:33

this one is fabulous, especially the little bookcases under the window in the living room realises this is not what you should judge a house on, but still

noddyholder · 02/08/2012 18:34

thats lovely gnocchi(god your name is making me hungry)

GnocchiNineDoors · 02/08/2012 18:35

haha Grin

VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:51

To be fair, some I have discounted for area/commute to school alone, knowing the roads and traffic etc.

OP posts:
VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:53

Actually I love that one too, gnocchi, but it's West of the town centre which would make the commute to school over an hour's round trip, which would be crazy, wouldn't it?

OP posts:
VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:55

Small garden one - yep, too small.

OP posts:
VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:57

Yew Tree Rd one - needs a complete rewire - electrical burn marks on some fittings, can't afford to do it at that price

OP posts:
VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 18:58

Stables one - layout feels really odd, unnatural. Bedrooms are cramped. Not totally ruled out but would be a huge compromise.

Discard all I have linked too and go with your third option. Stunning.

Can I move in?

noddyholder · 02/08/2012 19:16

Yes agree No3 looks great

noddyholder · 02/08/2012 19:17

and stop whining you are very lucky Grin

VerityClinch · 02/08/2012 19:24

I love number 3 too. But it's up the end of a dirt track with only cows (and the next door neighbours and their giant trampoline) for company. I was a city girl. I don't know if I'm ready for cows. DH will insist on buying several tonnes of tinned goods in case we get snowed in. We will get snowed in. I will have to get in the car if I even need just a pint of milk. Amazon won't be able to find me. Shit, what if Ocado don't deliver?

You see? I need sense talking into me.

OP posts:
GnocchiNineDoors · 02/08/2012 19:27

Could you get a pushbike for trips to shop?

Hard to access means less bothersome visitors.

Store the tinned good with your OFRS - wise DH.

Amazon will find you in a second. Ocado Im not too sure.

However, as a city girl, I totally understand the fear of remoteness. And cows.
