Do sink and Taps need to match?

Looking at new kitchen and have got obsessive about sinks this week!

Like the Franke Erica 1.75bowl sink so was thinking about this tap as I like the tall swan neck look, and the pull out bit, and its available in the same finish, but I prefer separate hot and cold controls, which Franke don't seem to do.
This Carron Phoenix tap looks ideal but is only available in chrome or brushed nickel - how bad would they look on a silksteel (brushed stainless) sink?

I also like this corner sink in stainless, and this tap by the same company, but the tap is only available in chrome!

Are chrome taps a headache, permanently needing polishing?

Sorry to be hung up on something so minor!

Looking forward to the opinions of the MN jury

I have a chrome tap and a brushed s/steel sink and it looks ok. But if it came with the house - it doesn't bother me. However if I were putting in a new one, and spending a good whack of money on it then yes I would like them to match.

And yes chrome taps are a sod for keeping clean. A brushed finish is much easier!

I also have a s/steel sink and a chrome tap, they came with the house. I can say I had never given it a moment's thought until I read this, and in fact had to go and check (am not v observant, clearly!)

I am pretty sure it was the same in the last house, as the tap was one of those pull out-shower type things and they all seem to be shiny. I have no excuse there, as we fitted that kitchen.

Chrome taps are ok if you just give them a quick wipe with a bit of kitchen roll at the end of the day (slattern)

S/steel tap and chrome mixed is perfectly ok. It is what I chose. A chrome swan neck tap is easy to keep clean. I much, much prefer a single mixed control. It looks tidier and is easier to use.
I have had pull out taps and find them a complete waste of time. They don't achieve anything more than having a nice high swan neck tap. If you had a short low down tap then they would be useful.

if you have accessible good drains then you may want to consider a waste disposer. I have had them in most of the houses I have lived in and think they are fantastic. I get the best I can afford and have never had a problem with the drains ( although I put in extra rodding points in my current house just in case)
