Yep, HATE our conservatory as it is too hot in summer/too cold in winter. the glare from the sun is annoying too. Have been looking into putting a lightweight tiled roof on - anybody done this? The foundations are 1m deep. Also, is Pilkington glass as good as the salesman was harping on? Thanks

I think replacing your conservatory roof can make all the difference and is more affordable than replacing the whole conservatory.

Unfortunately many older style conservatories have this problem of over heating in the Summer - lord knows what some conservatories are like right now in this heat wave we are having right now.

Modern conservatories now do come with a lot more options such as solid roofing and like you guys said above - lightweight tiled roofs.

Theres loads you can do to make your conservatory more habitable because it would be a shame not use the extra space you have.

I haven't personally used Pilkington Glass so cannot comment but I do know of a company that does modern roofing.

But I guess it's also what kind of look you want as well.I personally, am not a huge fan of the all over glazed roofs - for over heating reasons and privacy. It's nicer when it feels more like an extension!

Completely agree with you Reed88 - the roofs on that website look good. I like the ones that are part solid and part glass. Way more my style.

Love them too! Have you seen the virtual reality on there? Could definitely see that on my house.

Reed88 · 25/07/2018 14:07

Yeah I really like the part solid and glazed, it's way more like an extension isn't it?

It just looks nicer and I LOVE the fact you can have lighting and electricals.

I went round to someones house - probably 2 years ago now, and they a beautiful conservatory. It has one of those roofs but it just seemed like another room in the house. They had a TV and a huge dining room table and chairs. Apparently they needed somewhere to sit people for xmas haha!

If I was richer...would definitely opt for one of those.

Reed88 · 25/07/2018 15:20

Yesss! It was that sort of style.

See to me that just looks like an extension but that's what I prefer.

I'm not too sure about the glazing around it it though - I would want more brick. Hmmm maybe I just want an extension haha!

But yes, if I was going to go for a conservatory I would opt for those kind of ones!

Oh haha sorry. Just realised how to upload an image. I am such an woman - I still can't work out how people reply to other people and use the quote thing on here yet.
