Kitchen Replacement Doors - anyone done this?

We have moved into a place with a very small kitchen and basically it's been planned and fitted the best it can be but the doors are very dated and not suitable for painting. I have been advised that my best route is replacement doors because of the non standard sizes. Other than that it's a bespoke total refit which I can't afford.

Anyone done this? If so, pleased with the result or not? Recommendations?

Have done this.
Got some replacment doors in sale in B&Q and they looked fab!
Go for it as long as your carcasses are ok and you can get the right size doors you have nothing to lose.

Thanks for your response - glad it worked well for you.
Anyone else?

Where are you based? Someone else on MN recommended a place in Yorkshire which will make replacement doors to fit, solid wood or mdf (to paint yourself, or they'll lacquer them)

I got a very reasonable quote from them, just didn't proceed because we still haven't decided what to do with our kitchen!

I can forward their details if you're close enough...

Too far away I fear - am in Wiltshire but thanks anyway,

Yes, I did it about ten years ago. Measured myself ( they come in standard sizes so not that scary) and ordered them online, got a joiner to fit. It looked great. They came from Justdoors.co.uk who I think only do painted MDF in quite a limited Shaker or plain range, but it was v tasteful and looked amazing for the money.

just seen yours are non-standard sizes, but they do actually do made to measure!

We got B&Q doors but the hinge holes didn't line up so we dh cursing the whole time had to re-drill the carcass, was a PITA but looked nice in the end.

Really stupid question - if you get replacement doors what do you do about the end panels/plinth/cornicy bits etc to get them to match?

Thanks ogredownstairs I'll have a look at them I am looking for Shaker style but just hoping they don't have to be flat doors due to how slim a couple of them are. OH capable of fitting so that's all good.
reluctanttownie in my case these will have to be replaced too, along with the worktop. I thought this was going to be so straightforward when I bought the place - a quick trip to IKEA but it's not to be.
