I need to replace a tile in a small space under the shower (about 20x4cm) and at one end a small inlet pipe means the area is not completely flat. The replacement tile is also slightly thinner than the originals.
Should I;
a) hunt down some plaster, mix it up and fill the gap to make it completely flat and also to make the new tile flush with the rest, which would take time but means it would look better:
or
b) cut the tile again down one end, so that it is flat to the wall and use grout/sealant to cover the pipe, putting up with the tile not being flush and looking slightly botched but at least I could get it done this afternoon before DP gets home?
I would like to get this done quickly. I know the better job means the first option, but what would you do? I want to do this without DP's opinion, as he told me this morning that he didn't get any of the jobs he wanted to do done, including replacing this tile, because I'd been 'pleasing myself all weekend' - which actually meant I had an optician's appointment on Saturday morning and spent 3 hours at my allotment on Sunday morning because the place is a tip, having had no time at all spent on it in the last month (
but that's a whole other thread).
