Bathroom or Wetroom

Discussing with DH what we want to do with our bathroom once we have saved enough (needs total overhaul as was a rental).

Dh was quite keen on a wetroom, but I thought a bathroom would be more 'sellable' in the future.

We live in a ground floor terraced flat with an awkward layout (bathroom through kitchen) and two bedrooms (both doubles) with our baby dd. We wouldnt be able to get the money together for at least a year, so dd will be old enough to shower by then.

I like a bath but rarely get time to enjoy one.

I cant imagine that we'll have another baby while living here so no worries about bathing a newborn.

What would you do? Anyone had a wet room as thei main bathroom?

Bathroom is really small so shower would be above the bath if we stuck with a bathroom.

Why not have a bath in a wet room? There are various shapes and sizes of tub to fit if space is an issue.

Put in a bathroom if you do not plan to live in your current house forever. A wet room will immediately reduce your number of potential buyers. Particularly
young families like yours. Your dd is unlikely to be willing/able to shower for quite a few years. Ground floor bathrooms off kitchens are common in my area but they are not a great selling point so no bath would make a less than ideal position even worse. Save your wetroom ideas for your next property and ideally in an ensuite or secondary bathroom if it is a family home.

I would go with a small bath in a wetroom too.

Lots of people hate wet rooms! Have a shower over the bath, why on earth not?

Ground floor wetrooms are good, problems occur with first floor wetrooms.

Definelty couldn't fit in even a small bath with a separate shower area so think we will just stick to bathroom with shower over the bath.

I would say no to a wetroom as it would be a big off putter to a lot of people when you want to sell. I bath and shower and there is no way I would buy a house without a bath.

We had a wetroom in a holiday cottage once and hated it. Water got everywhere and the towels always got an absolute soaking. I don't see the advantage of having a wetroom over a perfectly good shower.

I love wet rooms. Don't really like taking a shower in a bathtub. It can get slippery, getting in and out is a bit of a faff. A nice wet room with a glass screen is very luxurious. Plus it is easier to clean.

But agree that it might limit your market.

If your target purchasers are small families you need a bath, 1st thing we did here was rip out the shower cubicle (and pink carpet!) and replace with bath with shower over.
I like wetrooms, but love long lazy baths so wouldn't choose a wetroom as a house's only washing facility

For a young family I'd definitely go for a bath with a shower over the bath. Wetrooms are great but I think only if there is another bathroom in the house.

A wet room will add value to your home as a second 'bathroom' but if you only have one bathroom it could decrease the value as they are not so desirable for everyone. One advantage is they will make your room feel much bigger
