Worth painting interior before selling?

We are probably going to put our house on the market soon, and wondering if it's worth getting it decorated. It would be a bit of a pain because we have a baby and a toddler, so could do without the disruption and shunting around of furniture, but would consider it if it would make for a quicker sale.

It's not that bad, it was done five years ago and is only just starting to look tired. There are scuff marks and chips on skirting boards though, and the odd crack here and there which may put some buyers off. But then again, don't most people want to redecorate anyway when they buy somewhere? I do. Would you?

Would a touch-up suffice, vs. a full paint job?

If your local housing market is fast-moving, it probably doesn't matter if the house looks a bit tired. But in slower selling areas it could make a difference.

Try magic erasers (I think that is what they are called) for the scuff marks. Apologies if you know this already, but they are super for getting all kinds of marks off walls and skirting.

Yes I've got some of those somewhere - I should dig them out, it would probably make a huge difference if I did that.

Property is moving fast round here if it's priced sensibly. But you never know do you? I guess we could see how it goes and get the decorators in if it doesn't look like shifting.

Yes, magic erasers are fab. How about just repainting the hall and kitchen or main reception room - the rooms potential buyers will see first? They're likely to be the rooms which get the most abuse IMO.
