(Sorry, couldn't work out how to do a proper link)

We'd like to address the lack of storage and to make it feel more spacious too, it's far smaller than it looks on the photo - no room dimensions unfortunately, the estate agent hasn't put them on the particulars

Any tips would be very welcome :)

:)

If there is room I'd put the bath along the other wall at the far end

thesmallestpotato · 21/06/2012 12:15

Thanks for the link Jareth!

Good idea about the bath, there might just be space

I'd do the same as Jareth. You can get shorter baths I think, if you mostly use the shower yourself. Then the sink could go on the same wall as the bath does now. You could get one of those sink units with a cupboard underneath?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 21/06/2012 12:30

Yep, bath at the end, loo next to it, sink where the loo is now. Sorted Grin

Depends on the property, but it might make more sense to turn it into a really opulent shower room (or wet room). Would make it feel much more spacious if you got rid of the bath. Otherwise, agree with others on moving the bath to where the sink is currently.

LonaMisa · 21/06/2012 12:41

My bathroom is very similar, although a lot more 'dated' think bright blue suite (bleurgh) ours is so small the door doesn't open fully as it hits the toilet!

I want to remove my bath and have a 'wet room' shower, I am disabled, as is my son. so a wet room shower would be better for me, in my situation.

I also have one of those glass panels next to the bath, instead of a shower curtain. they are dangerous in my opinion, it only takes a slip or fall in the shower and could be nasty. I am having mine removed very soon, and a shower curtain put in, although yours looks a bit more 'robust' than mine.

Depends on budget, but you could put underfloor heating in, then get rid of radiator?

doradoo · 21/06/2012 12:54

When we redid a very small bathroom we put a corner bath in as it took up less space - but you still got a full size bath. Not a full corner but an offset type thing.

You could fit one in along the back wall and put sink next to it opposite the window and leave loo where it is.

TalkinPeace2 · 21/06/2012 13:05

bath across the end - taps at external wall end
agree about a folding glass door (4 way folds back flat) rather than shower rail and curtain

basin opposite the window - big mirror to THROW light around - but make the cabinet half depth but wider with counter space on either side of the basin and therefore plenty of storage

corner WC (slightly dearer but open up the angles)

swap the rad for a whacky towel rail rad all the way up the wall to the left of the window

put insulating paper under the floor and then it will always feel warm without heating

starlingsintheslipstream · 21/06/2012 13:14

We have a tiny bathroom and opted for a shorter bath - it's fine for the kids and me and dh shower anyway. Isn't moving toilets a bit problematic, with the soil pipe and all? Perhaps easier to leave that where it is than mess about with plumbing.

CMOTDibbler · 21/06/2012 13:19

We have an offset corner bath (pic on my profile), and that made our bathroom feel much, much bigger, but kept a long bath

CMOTDibbler · 21/06/2012 13:22

Ah, lost that picture

TalkinPeace2 · 21/06/2012 15:28

I was assuming that the toilet is in the corner of the room either next to or facing the door. A corner WC would use the same plumbing connections but has a different footprint so makes the space around it feel much larger.

ogredownstairs · 21/06/2012 17:56

Agree about short bath - we have done that twice now, once in a family bathroom and once in an ensuite. Kaldewei do 1400mm steel baths which look perfectly normal and are absolutely fine for dcs and me. DH would probably struggle but he showers anyway. Worth considering a wall hung loo and basin too; have done that in several bathrooms over the years and would always prefer it as it makes everything feel really streamlined and you can build in (mirrored) storage above.

thesmallestpotato · 21/06/2012 19:40

Thank you all for replying, lots of great ideas!

I love the idea of a corner bath - would it be suitable for a shower over it? Totally agree about the shower screen, definitely too dangerous with two DC's to bathe

The door does indeed open right onto the toilet, it's a bit of a squeeze to get in and close the door behind you so a corner loo might work (I would never have thought of this!)

The tall heated towel rail instead of the radiator is a great idea, I can see this bathroom could turn out just fine!

Thinking about the cosmetics, I've been looking at the Dulux light & space paint, I wonder how much bigger it would seem with those tiles removed, re-plastered and painted in some kind of neutral colour, I find white a bit harsh and clinical - maybe a warm peachy kind of colour? What kind of tiles for around the bath? A few mirrors definately, will have a think where to put them, I was also thinking of horizontal blinds rather than those vertical ones?

I think I'm going to get a few ideas together, pictures etc and do some scrapbooking while we wait for the sale to go through :)

Thanks for the links, those bath storage panels are great, the shelf above the door is a good idea too

We're going to go round with tape measure to get some exact measurements next week

spotty26, I love your pintrest link, your bathroom must be absolutely beautiful!

If plumbing would allow it (and funds) I'd move the loo to where the basin currently is and put the bath along the window wall with taps / shower etc where the loo is (so window gets less of a soaking when having a shower. Basin would then go on bath wall facing loo. I'd have a concealed cistern loo combined with a cupboard to maximize space and a small wall hung basin with cupboard underneath / mirror above etc opposite. (Don't know the dims, but we have 1.6m for loo / cupboard / basin arrangement as described - and it's fine.) Radiator / towel rail would then go on wall that bath is currently on.
