Love the look or parquet and it's such a classic look but will I regret it-is it totally bonkers idea in kitchen?

No wood in a kitchen is fine as long as its sealed. Have to say mine isn't made of oats though Grin

Just be careful when you polish it. Parque flooring is like an ice skating rink. Not great in a kitchen when you are as graceless accident prone as me.

Thanks for replies-what company did you use lee loo ?

We had oak parquet throughout the ground floor. It looks wonderful, but isn't particulary robust. Didn't matter for me as I quite like a lived-in look, (and I drop things a lot) but it might be a consideration for you.

It was a good look as we had a white gloss/ stainless kitchen with iroko wood worktops.

Just had oak parquet put in everywhere apart from kitchen. I am a slattern and can not be doing with the maintenence with a toddler.

I've PM'd you Artic. :)

Thank you leeloo1.
Am going to go for it-now have to work out costs.

No worries. :) It did work out quite expensive, but looks (and smells!) gorgeous. I can really recommend the company - very friendly and polite, cleaned up all mess, arrived when they said they would and gave good advice.

We were planning to also have our hallway parquet re-sanded and sealed. They'd had a quick look at it and quoted and arrived to do the work (in conjunction with the kitchen which was completely stripped out to be re-done), but as they pulled up the carpet in the hall it was clear it'd need more than re-sanding, as much of it had become 'live' (wasn't bonded to the sub-floor anymore). There was no pressure or hard-sell to go ahead with the work as planned - and they advised me it was better to put the carpet back down! Grin
