Anyone with oiled wooden flooring? Would you recommend it?

Trying to decide between oiled or lacquered and seem to be going round in circles. It's for a living room so nota particularly high traffic area. Thinking that it will be easier to cover scratches with oiled, but will oiled scratch and mark easier than lacquered in the first place?? And what about spills?? Grateful for some first hand experience!

We had oiled real oak I'm hall and living room. Needed to redo about 6 months to a year. Good if you do get marks as just sand out and reoil.

We have oak in a hard wax oil finish, which I would recommend. It's been down nearly five years and has never needed refinishing, but is apparently very easy to do if needed. You can get a scratch repair kit but I've never needed to use it. Just a quick hoover and mop.

Hi there, we laid an oak floor last December in our kitchen. I was adamant that I did not want a lacquered floor or a floor with any sheen as it shows up a lot of marks when the sun shines on it. We ended up with solid untreated oak and finished it ourselves with osmo Polyx oil in a matt finish. I was dubious about it but it has turned out to be exactly what I wanted. The wax went on with a brush and dried over night, the only issue we had was that it left a residue on the top which I then had to lightly sand to get a smooth finish. I love it :)

Thanks all, you've reassured me! I think I'll go and order tomorrow (and will look into the hard wax oil too which I hadn't heard of before)

Osmo Polyx is the one we have - I think it's the leading brand of hard wax oil - I should have said.
