Built-in wardrobes

Has anyone had wardrobes fitted in their bedroom? We want two lots of wardrobes built, with 4 doors on each one, lots of hanging space/shoe storage/drawer space inside, in a painted wood traditional (Victorian?) panelled style.

Has anyone had anything vaguely similar made? I would like some idea of cost to see if it is actually feasible for us at the moment, before wasting time getting quotes etc!

We had wardrobes fitted last year - 5 doors, some shelving inside plus hanging rails at various heights. Ours was a dark red gloss.

Cost very much depends on size and finish I think.

We had Sharps in and they no a quote beforehand, and you are not bound to use them even after the quote.

Can't help on costs, but it's cheaper to get a local carpenter to do it than one of the big companies. If you plan out exactly what you need (and try to make at least some of it to standard widths) you could use Ikea Pax fittings internally which will also keep costs down. HTH

A friend got in a local carpenter to do a walk-in wardrobe, of a similar scale and style to what you're after. She paid about £1K I think. It's beautiful.

We've had some done, by our very good, very cheap but also unreliable local carpenter. Used Ikea fittings and a curtain rail for a clothes rail inside.
I think they were around £300 per wardrobe, but that involved fiddly fitting into non-straight corners, loft angles, etc.

We had some fitted a few years ago by a local joiner who made them for us.
I told him what I wanted, (similar to your description) and he made them for us and got the "panelled effect" by using beading strategically placed.
Once painted and the chunky handles fitted, they look really good.
I didn't have any drawers fitted in them but got him to fix one of the rails in the double wardrobe, at a very high level (I'm fairly tall) so they would accomodate long skirts, dresses, coats etc and still have room beneath to fit boxes etc for shoes and scarves (of which I have far too many).
I can't remember the cost (sorry) but it would not have been very expensive otherwise we wouldn't have them!

1K is very cheap for a large walk-in wardrobe Shock with a good finish and drawers etc. Sounds like OP doesn't anyone local and good, otherwise she could've easily got a quote.
Op says she wants 8 doors in tootal (double I assume) - I don't think it will be less than 2K with all the painting as well and internal stuff.
