The double-glazing has got quite bad and even when dry leaves the water marks showing.

Has anyone had this type of problem repaired, was it long-term effective and was it very expensive

Thanks

Do you mean there is moisture inside the double glazing? Or is the water on the inside of the window?

If its the firmer your double glazing unit has failed and needs to be replaced. I've replaced a bathroom one before but it's small and I think it's just under £100 (or could be just over)

If its just water inside, then stop hanging clothes indoors :)

Yes, sorry the double glazing has failed and water between the panes. £100 for small window - gulp! I was hoping someone had tried one of those firms that say they fix this without needing to replace ( and hope they were cheaper). 8 windows 3x5' - and breathe!

Thank you though

We got our kitchen window replaced - about 1m high by 1.5m wide for £70 including fitting.

Glazier (who is old school and has done stuff for the family for years) was Hmm when I asked about fixing the unit. It's not a real fix apparently as the only way to really fix it is to remove it and fix it under factory conditions. It's not really economical unless it's a specifically difficult window - funny shape or size. He could have just been angling for the replacement business though, but I doubt it!

Thanks for that info, sort of hoping for a very cheap magical solution. There's always clingfim I suppose Grin
