Rangemaster with induction hob - worth it?

We are getting the Rangemaster Professional range.

We have no gas, so have to get all electric.

My dh is insisting that we get the induction hob rather than ceramic.

I am baulking at the considerable extra price.

Has anyone got an induction hob? Are they as fabulous as he insists they are?

This gives wattage for individual plates: 2.2 kW and 3.3 boosted for large plate.

Oh crap, I should learn to Read the Fecking Question (the inability to do this was my downfall many a time...): the gas wok thing has 5kW - seems to work fine for us.

I love my induction hob!! Smile It's one of the best things about our kitchen.

Great if you're impatient (like me!). It's soooo fast and responsive.

Definitely go for it.

Apols for thread hijack... A few people have mentioned steam ovens. We're moving into a house with one - wtf is it for and are they good?

Thank you for bumping, Random. Anyone got the Rangemaster Excel 110 induction? I think it was introduced this April. It looks fab, but a bit ££££.

Lurking with intent Artyjools as we are looking at same one, hoping to have kitchen ready for it by end August. Have seen it a lot cheaper than that though. Stupidly not favourited any sites, but from memory saw it at £1760 somewhere. The other one that looks great is the 90cm FX version - just one oven but you can use part or all, and capacity is about equivalent to the two ovens together on the excel. But they don't seem to do an induction version yet - if you find one on your travels please let me know Wink!

sorry to catch up with a thread which went cold in June in uh, August. But still, it's been very illuminating to read and i have QUESTIONS:

  1. Why rangemaster? Is this totally the best?
  2. What other brands are good and why?

Sorry for the hijack and sorry for looking like an exam paper.
and, uh, sorry for being sorry Blush

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was wondering how you are getting on with the rangemaster ? is the Induction hob hot enough to sear a good steak? this is my main concern. We are moving to a house with no gas and no where to put a tank, so it looks like its going to be Induction for me. I am feeling nervous and a bit stressed by all the choice and the huge cost of a new cooker. Please put my mind at rest.
