OK I I have a blank wall in my new kitchen and I want to use it to make myself more organised - what would you put on it?

I'm thinking like a 'hub' - I am chronically disorganised and it needs to change!

Can't put anything deep like a table against it as it is between two doors, but wall hung stuff fine. I was thinking:

calendar
pinboard, maybe with shelf under?
blackboard area?
I'd really love some sort of pigeonhole things but no idea how that would work.

Any more ideas?

This is the most boring thread ever, isn't it? Grin

Not boring at all! Check out Pottery Barn Daily Systems

this is the blackboard I made for our kitchen or this is pretty cool its one I've pinned on pinterest I think you should be able to view it ok.

Ikea do various wall mounted magazine racks, like this one which might serve as pigeon holes?

Gentleness · 15/05/2012 23:17

These are very easy to make and cheap enough to co-ordinate with the rest of the room or replace if not quite right.

I prefer whiteboards to chalkboards practically (not visually) because of dust, difficulty cleaning well and scratchy sounds. We have a magnetic whiteboard and when the area in front of it isn't built up with unsorted "stuff" it works really well. I draw a little week plan on one side, fix stuff around the edges and scribble anywhere. The calendar is next to it.

Oh wow ThereGoes, that Pottery Barn Daily System looks perfect for our kitchen blank wall. You might have just saved us from the MN-mocked "wall of black and white photos of children" Grin

Google 'command centre' and drool...

BeehavingBaby · 17/05/2012 22:18

Actually you have to be a bit more specific Blush

This is what I mean...

Don't forget that dry-wipe markers work well on glass as well as whiteboards. I printed out some calendar sheets. The calendar sheets then got put in a big picture frame with lots of spare room around them. You can then easily write on the calendar and there's also room for other reminders.

IHeartKingThistle · 22/05/2012 13:18

That's genius!

We have a tatty notice board that was a throw-out from a local college. It's big - about 2 X 1.5 metres.

I pin every note on it, which means that while I sometimes take a while to find the relevant note, I know it's there somewhere.

QueenMaeve · 22/05/2012 21:25

Snorbs that's a great idea. I think I actually saw something similar somewhere, they had 5 of those black ikea frames with a day of the week printed on nice patterned paper. Then the frames were grouped together on the wall. Will see if I can find the picture if you like

IHeartKingThistle · 22/05/2012 21:28

Yes please! I'm liking any ideas that can be done cheaply!

QueenMaeve - I've seen that on Pinterest

if you go on there and search for 'organisation' loads come up

Do you have to register with pinterest to search?
