Garage conversion or sun-room?

We are in desperate need of more space for playroom/office & can't afford a full blown extension so are considering either converting our garage or adding a sun room/conservatory? Has anyone done either and can advise (roughly!) on cost & any pros/cons? Unfortunately we're in an expensive part of the SE usually comparable with London prices for trades.

We converted our garage into an informal living room and it's been one of the best things we did.
Lots of pros, as gets used all the time, rather than being the junk store that the garage was, and we've not found any cons after 6 years.
I'd couldn't give a price comparison as we did it 6 years ago, and the house values and prices where I am are a world away from where you are.

Garage conversion definitely, ours is brilliant. Conservatories are awful, freezing in the winter, boiling and mega-bright in the summer and just don't feel cosy and part of the house. I grew up with one that no-one wanted to go in and all the people I know with one hardly ever use it because of this. Sorry I can't give you costs on the garage conversion as it was done by a previous owner.

We have a garage conversion with a shower room built at the back. This means that when we have friends or family staying over we can make it up as a guest room and it's all largely self contained. Works as a study/reading room the rest of the time, but would have been good as a play room if my children were younger. Aesthetically, the room is a bit too long and thin, but its certainly functional.

We have been quoted £5000 to split our garage into a utility room one end and an office the other end. We have been told by an EA that we need to ensure lots of storage as that is where the value is in a garage. With plenty of storage it will add £5000 to the vlaue of the house, within minimal storage it could knock as much as £10,000 off the house. We took advantage of a free no obligation valuation that lots of the agents are offering currently to get this detail to make sure we were making the right decision.

lizcat that's what has been done in our house and works really well. We've got a great utility area at the front of what the garage was with lots of storage, cupboards, washing machine etc. and a decent sized office as well.
