Difference between gas safety check and full service

Hi all, can anyone tell me the difference between getting a safety check and full service done on your boiler? I know both are recommended, but if I essentially just want to make sure my boiler is safe and working properly would this be covered by a safety check or would I need a full service?

A safety check will (should) ensure that the flue is not leaking fumes into the house; that the cover is sealed for the same reason; that the burner is not generating carbon monoxide beyond accepted limits. The price of a safety check may not include any remedial work.

A service will include those, plus adjusting or cleaning the mixture of burners if the test shows that attention is needed. There may be other maintenance and inspection depending on the makers instructions. Modern boilers can often be checked without taking the case off, just using an instrument to analyse the flue gases, so a service might not include much work. I would make sure the serviceman knows of any noises, need to bleed radiators or top up pressure, poor performance, hot water temperature not being right, other clues of things not being correct.

I am not a gasman.
