I am trying to achieve the same French effect as the blog
www.dreamywhites.com
And finding it impossible to pick the white as their colours are all American.I normally go for yellows so this is a complete adventure for me( no smirking please).
The room is big and has 2 windows so fairly light.Nothing too grey as I need it to look soft rather than hospitally.
What do think?

It looks lovely.just what I would have picked before. It looks a little bit pink nuanced. But I have to be brave!thanks for the suggestion as I have never heard of that paint brand before.

We used Dulux Timeless all over the house as a cheap option. It's nice and soft, and changes tone in different light

motherofluvlies · 06/05/2012 14:25

Oh I likely.is it grey when it's up?what style do you decorate?

I love the photo. But it is a grey white, and it seems you don't want that..

If you want a softer more buttery white, I love F&B Pointing. We put it on our walls and it has a rich white/creamy feel. We had used Dulux light and space before, but this has a lot more depth.

motherofluvlies · 06/05/2012 14:59

Oh I think I do.Confusedjust not grey.I am so afraid it will look dingy.I think I am trying to avoid the creamy whites as they are the ones I love, like yellow. So a grey white is what I needconvincing herself
Talk grey whites to me.

Is that Timeless a grey white?cause it looked right?

No, it's just slightly off white, probably warmer than a greyish one. We had to do the whole house and I wanted it to be blank so that I could add colour once we'd lived here for a while. 12 months on....not so much colour!

BerryLellow · 06/05/2012 18:42

It's not cream at all, I very much wanted to avoid the magnolia look!

Mother, what is the orientation of your room? F&B have some advice on what colours and undertones work for different rooms.

I once compared wall paper in an east facing room vs. a west facing one. The difference was startling. What looked rich and sumptuous in one room looked totally faded and flat in the other room.

motherofluvlies · 06/05/2012 20:01

Large window at the end of the room east facing and a smaller window at the other end is south facing.Although in this weather all the rooms look dark :(
