What are London commuter counties house prices doing?

Lots on here about north and south house prices.
Is it still doom and gloom for commuter towns or are these (slightly) protected by London?
Or head in sand?

outer commuter belt here, and prices on the up

your daily commute from here would be about 2 hours there...2 back. lots of people do it though...

I live 30 miles outside of London in a small commuter town in SE England & the market is in the doldrums where I am. Prices haven't dropped that much, but movement is painfully slow. Houses are on the market for ever & lots of chains breaking down. Definitely a buyers market.

We are trying to buy a house in a commuter town/village in Sussex or Surrey. The market is stagnant, nothing new is coming on but vendors are resisting dropping prices. It's very frustrating (as a buyer). There is one house I would love to buy, it's been on the market since last summer and we offered 20% below asking price at Christmas, which they turned down. We repeated the offer a month ago as it is still on the market, but they are still not interested. We can't go any higher. They have now changed agents but kept the price the same. Nothing has moved in that village in that price range for months.
