Which worksurface do you use the most in your kitchen?

Do I need more space next to the sink or next to the hob/oven?

Currently have 0 worktop, apart from a little bit to the right of the hob, which has the kettle on. We prepare on the table.

Can't work out whether to move the hob next to the sink - so worktop space would be on the opposite wall (like galley kitchen), or to leave them separate.

I would prefer more room next to the hob as I have a dishwasher so the sink draining area is almost always clear. But if there's not dishwasher and your prepare food on the table anyway then I would go for more room by the sink.

We do have a dishwasher and a lot of the space to the left of it is used for draining. We could put the hob next to it (so dishwasher, sink, hob) in a line but there wouldn't be much room to work.

May be wrong but, I thought there was a recommendation that you don't put hob's next to sink's.

There is a minimum distance and we would have that, but it doesn't leave much room to work at.

Next to the hob. In our house, the area next to the sink fills up with dirty dishes etc. and looks a mess. The more space I had here, the more it would be junked up!

You need more space near the hob to prepare meals. Agree with Fenton about minimising junk dumping area.

Sorry, its greyvix I'm agreeing with. Blush

Ok great, that's our new plan!
