Help ASAP hardwood or oak veneer-what's the difference?

Im a pickle with a door supplier and having to make very quick decisions over the phone to companies I don't know....
I wanted an oak door but now realise the quotes I've been collecting are for Oak Veneer-is this like wood-style UPVC or does it look nice? The guy said I could stain it so I'm a bit confused. Could also go with hardwood but apparently that stains mahogany and I need it to match my other external doors which are a honey colour!

If my chippie wasn't so expensive I wouldn't mind so much but don't want to pay through the nose for a crap door!!
Help!
Thanks

A veneer is a this strip of wood that is 'glued' over a cheaper wood to give the finish of the more expensive door.

So the oak veneer will be a raw wood that you can stain and presuming your other doors are oak that is why it will match.

A hardwood door is a solid wooden door. I'm not sure why it would have to be stained mahogany. Unless it is mahogany?

Either way I'm guessing that whatever wood this hardwood is it doesn't take a realistic honey oak colour when stained.

Thanks-was a nightmare-everyone I spoke to sent my head spinning I a diff direction! Went for oak veneer in the end and paid through the nose for a next day delivery. Thanks for explaining the differences!
