American Style Fridge

I will shortly own a house big enough for an American style fridge. This is extremely exciting to me as my current fridge is tiny and my freezer is on another floor. Having a huge combo may well change my life - easy access to ice cream! A whole shelf for condiments! Imagine the possibilities.

The only problem is, I know nothing about this product area - any advice? I don't want to spend more than £800 which I know is low in this area.

Any reviews?

Well we decided not to both with the sort that has a chilled water / ice dispenser integrated into it. It's a nice idea but it does take up quite a lot of the inside space, and the point of getting Fridgezilla was to house loads and loads of food.

Mine has a fairly good freezer : fridge ratio, which pleases me because I didn't want a little shoebox of a freezer. Obviously, this is personal choice. The inside of the freezer door has lots of shelf-y compartments, which I find incredibly useful.

We're both tall, so we went for something pretty high, but again, they vary and depending on your own height, this might be something to consider.

Sorry not to be of any more help re: energy ratings, cubic feet and the like. Ours is a Daewoo, FWIW, but the exact model doesn't seem to be in production any more.

I dont have one (in the middle of planning a new kitchen, have been for over a year!) but on your budget I'd look at LG and John Lewis own brand.
This one loooks pretty good and there are others on their site worth looking at, some with reviews

I have had an LG for 4 years with no problems. I am also planning a new kitchen and can't really justify replacing it as it still looks good and works perfectly well.

I dont have an ice machine or water dispenser as they do take up a lot of freezer space and most have to be plumbed in.

We were thinking this one www.johnlewis.com/231451826/Product.aspx
We saw it's expensive silver equivalent yesterday which is nice and shiny, apparently the darker silver is exactly the same but not as desirable so much much cheaper.

I've heard good things about LG and Daewoo seem to be inexpensive but DH is worried about the brand not being one that specialises in fridges? I don't care about this sort of thing (branding) so don't care but he's hard to dissuade.

We've got a Samsung one that is very similar to the one you've linked to, but in stainless steel finish. We really like the ice and water and use it lots every day, so it's not wasted on us! There is a known problem with the temperature sensors on Samsung American FFs which is supposed to have been fixed, however ours broke after about 2 years. All credit to Samsung though, I phoned about it and they sent out a repair man and it was fixed within a couple of days.

Worth Googling them though to get best price - we paid about £600 iirc about 2 1/2 years ago.

Whilst I don't have first hand experience of John Lewis own brand fridges, I do have a JL own brand dishwasher and it's superb. Best one I've ever used.
