recommendations for areas easy commute to high st kensington

Looking for a slightly larger flat to move to in a few months time.

Needs to be 2bed. Currently living in west kensington (just off high st ken rd/ hammersmith rd), but in 1bed.

We need to commute to high st kensington and covent garden for work (need to be in high st ken at 7.30am, and 12-16hr shifts! so current 20 min walk great)

Any ideas of where we can rent? (prefer not Shepherds bush -just personally dont feel safe there if walking home at 11pm from work). The shorter commute the better, and commuting from further out will impact our rental budget as will have to spend part on travel fees.

£1800 per/month max...are we going to find any where?

Chiswick! Turnham green

wouldn't reccommend bus from MV in rish hour - it's very slow!
Turnham Green/Stamford Brook definetely, or Baron's Court (not as nice but has both Piccadilly line and District). Baron's is safer than Shepherd's Bush, though the High street is not nice. But you aer a couple of stops of nice places.

Brook Green!! Much like notting hill but a bit less expensive

I love the area round Ravenscourt park (aslso district line) but might be a bit expensive?

Munster Village? Direct bus from top of Munster road to high st ken.

Hammersmith/south of Barons Court, for District and Picc lines. Avoid the pretty houses and there's many decent ex-council flats, especially large 2-bed ones.

Search rightmove for sw6 6sr (my old postcode) within 0.5 miles, you will find plenty of nice 2 beds in your budget.

Fantastic location, 5 min walk to parsons green (great shops, pubs, restaurants, lots of coffee shops etc) and within Munster village with local supermarkets (up market budgens and Tesco express), great Thai, good Italian, fantastic deli/cafe called Plum. Good bus and tube.

So why do you feel unsafe in Sheps bush?

I don't think Brook Green will be any cheaper than where you are now. Thinking of transport links, is there still a functioning service from kensington Olympia? If so, I'd be looking at the stations going north of there - Willesden?

Or out on the district line - Putney? Wimbledon?

For £1800 a month, you're unlikely to get what you want in any of the areas mentioned above, other than Shepherd's Bush and possibly Baron's Court / Hammersmith.

Most of Brook Green is just like Shepherd's Bush but with a 15% price premium for the sloaney snob-factor. IMO the Victorian cottage streets off Uxbridge Road are nicer and safer than the gangland divide that is Richmond Triangle. Abdale, Tunis, Stanlake (the streets behind the police station, which is manned 24 hours a day) are definitely worth checking out.

Also try is the area around Media Village - there's not a great sense of community as it tends to be flatshareland, but the mansion flats off North End Road such as Beaumont Crescent tend to be very good value.

Depends which parts of brook green you're looking at, if it's on the green or on the kensington side they are very pretty streets but are going to be much more expensive than W Kensington etc
