Can roller blinds be covered in different material?

hi,

might sound a bit odd, but I am moving into new house soon, and there are several roller blinds in situ - except they look v DULL - just plain white. the drop is 12" (Glasgow tenement, so I am wondering if I could COVER them in different material as replacing them would cost an absolute fortune) Im thinkin.....thin material...staple on at the very top near the mechanism? Am I crazy?

I have just done this!

I was going to replace my ds blind with a roman blind, but as it was a blackout roller & made to measure, I had the idea of covering it.

I bought material just over the size and used a glue gun to glue it over the front, applied at rear edges, with a small overlap at the back.

It was a 2 man job. It has worked really well - looks great.

It is easy to do. You should also get hold of some stiffening spray. See here. I did it with 3 blinds in our house.

YAY! Did you cover both sides - can you see it´s been done (its for my bay window so pretty bladdy obvious if I make a hash of it which is farly likely

YY to stiffening spray - I forgot to mention that.

I didn't do both sides as I thought it might make the blind too thick to roll up. I did the edges very neatly though.
