I want this house if only for the gorgeous wisteria on the front I drive past it almost every day and it's in flower right now. Oh I want this house

it's not lovely. if it was it wouldn't be on the market again i promise you. there's some hidden fault that makes it not nice to live in...

bibbitybobbitybunny · 24/04/2012 22:30

Teeny garden. I'd never buy it even if I had the money.

Fret not headfairy, there's an even nicer house for you somewhere.

Rhubarbgarden · 24/04/2012 22:39

It isn't a teeny garden. That photo only shows a portion of it. There's loads more extending back beyond that tree.

Bet that tiled kitchen floor is freezing in the morning.

Bletchingley is a nice village. All on the one main road (the A25), but pretty, and I wouldn't mind living there, except it doesnt suit us location wise.

Commute not great, imo. you can go from Nutfield (about 2 miles away) to London bridge in 45 mins-1hr. but with added hassle of driving to statin, parking etc.

yes, Redhill is nearest big town. it's not great. Crawley also close by - again, ok but not naice.

good for transport links - Gatwick is a hop and a skip away, and M25 also cose by.

plenty of nice little villages/small towns, but with little more than the odd useful shop and bakery.

pretty area though.

imo, there are nicer houses for the money, within reasonable striking distance.

Rhubarb, if you buy this house you HAVE to invite me round for tea! Redhill is fine (we live in Redhill :-D), town centre is a bit ahem interesting, but it's rough in the Surrey sense, not in the scary inner city sense - bored teenagers hanging around smoking, not muggings and knifings. As in most of the south east, primary schools are pretty good on the whole, secondary a bit more difficult, but as we're a long way from looking at secondary schools I haven't really looked that much in to it.

Godstone village (where I grew up) is just down the road and is super nice. Best kept village in Surrey for many many years. Commuting could either be from redhill station, trains are good and as its on the Gatwick line pretty reliable. However driving in to Redhill station at rush hour might be a pain as getting down Redstone hill can be tricky. I would probably be more tempted to go for Caterham station in to London Bridge or oxted station in to Victoria.

I love the area, but thn I would. It's home to me. For larger shopping I usually go in to Kingston or Guildford, but working in central London I don't usually need to go to either (I work opposite a giant shopping centre!)

Let me know if you need to know anything else about the area... And remember, I have to come to tea. I will bring cake Grin

Thanks Silverfrog and Headfairy. Useful info. We have been looking for the right house for an age. My preferred location is Sussex, but the commute is looong. This looks better. And dh likes this house, which is beyond rare. I think we may need to go and explore at the weekend.

And I promise you can come round for cake if we buy it! Only fair considering you found it Grin

SoupDragon · 25/04/2012 07:53

LOL - the garden isn't teeny, it's 0.4 acres!

Cornflakemum · 25/04/2012 09:55

Reigate is nearby and is a LOVELY town!

headfairy · 25/04/2012 14:07

Agreed, Reigate is loverly (though the traffic thundering through it ain't!) and the park there is great. There's also a good playground in Bletchingley, ds loves it, it's right by the cricket green. Oh and they do a really nice village fete in June, usually with a stunt motorcyclist which is a big plus for ds.

Let me know what you think of the house. Be warned it pretty much opens on to the main road, but that has never put me off. If you buy it and decide its not for you I'll buy it off you.... For a knock down price of course Grin
